This month: Wat Tham Ta Pan in Phang Nga Town, an original temple which offers a gore vision of the Buddhist hell, as well as the path to heaven through a cave. Do not miss it if you stop by Phang Nga Town.
Still in Phang Nga province, nearer to Phuket you could have lunch at Andaman Viewpoint - 360 Degree Coffee & Restaurant between Phuket and Kok Kloy. Espresso is pretty good and the food is excellent as well. Located at the top of a hill, the restaurant offers a splendid view on Phang Nga province. In a move to get over the top, they had the idea to setup a lifting crane wich brings a cabin 25 metres up! The cabin can accommodate up to 8 people, the lift costs 40 Baht, and you really can enjoy a 360 degree view on Phang Nga province and the Andaman sea.
Back to Phuket with images of: Layan Bean, the northern end of Bangtao Beach, a tranquill place; Phuket Big Buddha awakened; A view on Ya Nui Beach from Windmill viewpoint, between Phromthep cape and Nai Harn Beach. |
Last Months
Phuket Luxurious Villa - Bistro 104 - France - Saint Nazaire - Le Croisic
This month: photo shooting of a superb house, villa nautica, at Boat Lagoon Marina. Holiday in France with a visit of Le Croisic's Ocearium, a great aquarium displaying fluorescent jellyfish. A dragging boat is removing sands and sediments in the Loire estuary, in a way to clear the way to Donges refinery plant for the big petrole and gaz tankers. Rawai Beach is located in the south of Phuket and offers a nice spot for picnic. In Phuket Town a sign maker displays a big Yoda (with large ears!). The sign says: Tam Pai - Raka Tuk: Making Signboards - Low cost... A new place in Phuket Town: Casa 104 guesthouse opened Bistro 104, a great restaurant where the chef, David Layfield, offers fine dining melting different culinary influences in a very talented way. Bistro 104 is located on Yaowarat road near Dibuk road's crossroad, in Phuket Town's chinatown. |

Krabi - Ao Luk - Tiger Cave - Emerald Pool - Thung Teao Forest Park
This month, I spent a few days in Krabi province. First stop was in Ao Luk district (between Phang Nga and Krabi Town) with a visit by longtail to two caves in the mangrove: Tham Phi Hua To (Big-headed Ghost Cave - featuring a 3,000 years burial site) and Tham Lot (Tham means cave in Thai). A view on Krabi Town's landmark, Khao Khanab Nam
view from the Maritime Park & Spa Resort. A view from the stairs of Wat Tham Seua (Tiger Cave temple). A visit at Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve, located at the southern border of Krabi province. This huge natural reserve offers kilometers of trails in the jungle with some splendid jewels on the way, at the Thung Teao Forest Park: the Emerald pool (Sa Morakot), a turquoise/green lagoon busy with swimmers (about 800 m from the park's entrance), and deeper in the jungle: the amazing blue pool where swimming is fortunately not allowed... |

Koh Phangan - Phuket's Blue Elephant Restaurant
This month, I visited Koh Phangan, a small island between Koh Samui and Koh Tao in the gulf of Siam. Thong Sala is the "capital" of Koh Phangan and a nice base to explore the island which covers a 168 square kilometre surface, and still keeps slow pace of Thai rural life despite an important development in the last 15 years. Koh Phangan is mostly reknown for its full/half/black moon parties which shake Haad Rin Beach's foundations three times every month. Besides this parties (which are mainly just some 'drinking to oblivion' parties) Koh Phangan is a beautiful and wild place: superb beaches (Haad Salad, Haad Son), fishing villages and piers (Chaloklum, Haad Srithanu), good snorkeling and diving, great trekking to waterfalls and viewpoints in the rainforest.
Blue Elephant Phuket has open in 2010 in Phuket Town. The building where it is located is certainly the most famous sino-portugese heritage building in town. This mansion which has been close for decades offers now royal Thai cuisine in the most impressive environment. Classy place indeed. |

S/Y Amulet - Phi Phi Islands - Paradise Beach
This month, Amulet, a 119 years sailing vessel take the sea for the first time after many years refurbishing. We followed this splendid sailing yacht from Patong to Kamala Beach with M/V Dragonboy. Our cruise brought us to Paradise Bay (at the southern tip of Patong Bay) for lunch. Another trip to Phi Phi Don Island's Mama Beach, a great and classy place to spend holiday with style on this fabulous island. |

New Year's Fireworks in Patong - Phi Phi Islands - Wat Tam in Phang Nga
This month: happy new year 2010! New year's eve fireworks above Patong Beach, view from Orchidee Residence. First trip to Phi Phi Don's Mama Beach Resort, brand new hotel open at the western tip of Tonsai Bay. A trip to Wat Tam (Cave's Temple) in Phang Nga province, with a lying Buddha and a lot of macaque monkeys around. This temple is located off the main road to Phang Nga Town, about 10 km before to reach the province's capital. |

Phuket and Town Attractions
This month: four photos of streets, Darasamuth school, and venues of Phuket Town; a bird at Nai Yang Beach (north west of Phuket), near the airport; and two attractions: Go-Kart in Kathu (at the bottom of Patong hill), and Phuket Butterfly Garden in Phuket Town. |

Phuket Town - Big Buddha - Koh Samui
This month: five photos of Phuket Town; Phuket Big Buddha and its view on Kata Beach; A tired motorbike taxi driver waiting for customers in Chaweng Beach - Koh Samui. |
